Konec Lotus Redbooks?
Už delší dobu je na centrále Lotus Redbooks (i na "edičním" plánu) vidět, že knihy s tematikou čistě Notesovou jsou stále méně častejší. Do popředí se dostávají publikace o Workplace. Navíc byla minulý týden ohlášeno uzavření Lotus Redbook center v Cambridge.
Odbornou veřejnost to ihned znepokojilo a žádá vysvětlení, proč by tak výborný zdroj informací (na rozdíl od oficiální dokumentace, která se dá použít jako referenční příručka, ne jako učebnice) měl přestat být podporován. Pořád ještě není jasno, jak to dopadne, nicméně jeden dobře informovaný zdroj tvrdí, že funkci Redbooks by měla převzít oficiální dokumentace:
"I have been told that there is a belief in some fairly high circles at IBM/Lotus that Lotus Redbooks are covering what should be covered in the regular product documentation, so thereby removing Lotus Redbooks will put the pressure on creating better documentation with the Redbook type information, and there will be some cost saving by redeploying a few heads and freeing up some office space."
